MacRumors reports that Apple’s in-store iPhone 4S stock is depleting rapidly. The iPhone 4S “How to Buy” page now shows a new “Reserve” option for reserving an iPhone 4S after 9 PM for pickup the next morning.
iPhone 4S is available in store by reservation only. Reserve yours after 9:00 p.m. tonight for pickup tomorrow. When you come in, you’ll choose a carrier and plan, and we’ll get your iPhone up and running before you leave the store.
MacRumors has been in touch with a representative at an Apple retail store and has heard that the walk-in customers are currently being satisfied, but supplies are “evaporating.” Apple has resorted to reservations because it will keep lines shorter and also reduce the amount of disappointment.
If you haven’t purchased an iPhone 4S yet and are looking to do so, try ordering online – and waiting 1-2 weeks for it to ship – or reserving one for the next morning. They should continue to allow people to walk in and purchase a phone without reserving online, so you have nothing to worry about if you’re sure there’s stock nearby.
