Nuance Plans to Acquire Swype

According to Uncrunched, Nuance—the company whose speech recognition engine powers iOS 5′s Siri Voice Assistant—has bought (or will be acquiring shortly) Swype for over $100 million. Swype offers a unique input method for Android which allows users to trace the path of words across the keyboard, making typing much faster. Swype is only available (officially) for handsets from select manufacturers, but the Nuance acquisition may finally open the excellent app to a wider audience.
