Apple debuted the new Siri Assistant voice control feature (see how it works) at their “let’s talk iPhone” event yesterday, but unfortunately, it’s a feature exclusive to the new iPhone 4S. Thankfully, the jailbreak community is already working on porting Siri Assistant to other iOS devices. Currently, iOS hackers iH8sn0w and gojohnnyboi (yes, the iFans member) are focusing on porting Siri to the fourth-generation iPod touch only.
The good news, however, is that we personally contacted iH8sn0w to ask him if the porting process would also make its way to other iOS devices and, fortunately, his answer was positive for devices that can run iOS 5. That means that any jailbroken iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, iPad, and iPad 2 could potentially run a ported version of Siri Assistant at some point in the future.
“Once on one device (other than the 4S), should have no issue bringing it to other devices running iOS 5,” said iOS hacker iH8sn0w.
