TechCrunch reports that Amazon’s upcoming tablet, dubbed the “Kindle Fire”, will be unveiled at a press conference this Wednesday. This iPad competitor is believed to be the one device that will truly be able to give the iPad something to worry about, since Amazon has enough weight to sell the device at a loss. The tablet is rumored to feature a 7″ screen and run an extremely customized version of Android. Amazon already has their own appstore in place, and offers tons of digital content through Prime, which they may offer for free as a selling point. The exact specs and design of the production units are still unknown, but if Apple has taught us anything, it’s that user experience is far more important than raw horsepower.
