OtterBox is officially teasing the Apple community with a new website banner that reads “iPhone 4S or iPhone 5? Yes.” It appears that the accessory maker is following in the footsteps of its competitor, Case-Mate. Based on this banner, it would seem that OtterBox has some sort of inside information or connections with regards to the next-generation iPhones. But that’s not entirely true.
The banner you see above turns out to be merely a good marketing ploy on OtterBox’s behalf in order to attract more potential iPhone customers to their website. Again, just like their competitor Case-Mate. Also, yesterday’s iPhone 4S packaging leak was just that–packaging. OtterBox has yet to actually produce a mass number of iPhone 4S cases, because they only know as much information as speculated by the Apple blogosphere.
“Like many, we are watching the rumor sites and using information to plan ahead as much as we can,” Richardson told TUAW. “We do not have any confidentiality agreements with Apple.”
