Apple Counts Down to 10 Billion Song Downloads

Following up their previous 1 billion application downloads countdown, Apple have reached that time where they’re about to hit another important milestone.

Except this time it’s for their most successful desktop application: iTunes.

They’ve kept it pretty quite how they’ve been going through each billion of song downloads, but 10 billion is something important to announce.   Especially seeing as it’s that many songs over seven years.

To add to their celebration, Apple are giving away a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card to the person who downloads the 10 billionth song.

iTunes changed the way you buy music, making songs and albums available for download, day or night. Seven years later, we’re about to celebrate our biggest milestone for music, yet — 10 billion songs downloaded. Buy a song, and if it’s the 10 billionth download, you could win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. It’s our way of saying thanks.

It’s not as much as what Connor Mulcahey won, but it’ll do me fine to add to my iTunes credit.

Check out the official countdown here.
