T-Mobile Won’t Be Launching the iPhone 5 This Year

According to TmoNews, the U.S.’s fourth-largest carrier will not be receiving the iPhone 5 this year. Speaking at a town hall meeting for T-Mobile employees, the carrier’s chief marketing officer Cole Brodman confirmed that T-Mobile is “not going to get the iPhone 5 this year.”

While this statement eliminates any possibility of a “magenta” iPhone 5 before the end of this year, it doesn’t rule out an iPhone 4S release or an iPhone 5 release next year. T-Mobile is currently in ongoing discussions with AT&T about a possible merger of the two carriers into one. The carriers have a few obstacles in their way before they can merge, however, so nothing is guaranteed at this point.
