Brand Finance: Apple is World’s 2nd Most Valuable Brand

Apple is now worth $39.3 billion in brand value, good enough for second place worldwide, according to London-based research firm Brand Finance. The Cupertino-based company is only surpassed by Google, which has an impressive brand value of $48.2 billion itself. Apple leapfrogged other technology giants Microsoft ($39 billion) and IBM ($35.9 billion), as well as Wal-Mart ($34.9 billion) and General Electric ($29 billion), thanks to a dramatic 33% increase in brand value compared to less than a year ago.

Brand Finance‘s report contradicts competing research firm BrandZ who, in May, assessed the brand value of Apple at $153.3 billion, ahead of Google and good enough to be called the world’s most valuable brand.
