According to 9to5Mac, Apple has completed work on a new iPad model that will be compatible with Sprint, the U.S.’s third largest carrier. Considering that both Verizon and Sprint use CDMA technology, it’s unknown why Apple might have chose to create an entirely seperate iPad model for Sprint. One possible reason, which is entirely speculation, could be that Sprint is ready to launch the iPad on their high-speed 4G WiMAX network.
High-speed 4G cellular data combined with potential unlimited data plans could attract numerous customers to Sprint, and a third iPad carrier means that there is new, most welcomed competitiveness in the tablet market. Apple could be waiting to launch the iPad 2 alongside the Sprint’s rumored upcoming launch of the iPhone this October.
