If you thought that Intel’s new high-speed Thunderbolt I/O technology was exclusive to Macs, think again. At the Intel Developers Forum today, Mooly Eden, vice president of the PC Client Group, gave attendees an early look at a prototype Ultrabook with Thunderbolt technology running Windows 7.
Unforuntately, Eden did not mention when Thunderbolt-equipped PCs will be available to the public. Thunderbolt is a lightning fast I/O interface that touts speeds up to 10 GB/s, enough to transfer a full-length HD movie is less than 30 seconds. The port is backwards compatible (via adapters) with USB, Ethernet, FireWire, HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI and VGA.
