If you’re a fan of the Counter-Strike series of games for Mac, you’ll be happy to hear that Valve Software has announced its forthcoming plans to release a new game, called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (GO), early next year. Valve is notoriously known by Mac gamers for releasing some of the best multiplayer games for Mac, including Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, and Half-Life. The company is also known for running the popular gaming network Steam for Mac and PC users. Counter-Strike is a team-based tactical ops multiplayer shooter, considered by many to be among the best in its genre.
Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999). CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
