Touch-Friendly Version of Chromium OS Shown Off on Video

As if Google doesn’t have enough fragmentation of its operating systems at the moment, a developer by the name of Francois Beaufor has leaked a video of a touch-optimized version of Chromium OS (viewable after the break). Chromium OS is the open-source version of Google’s Chrome OS, which has recently been shipped on various notebooks. The touch-friendly version of Chrome OS has yet to make it in to a finished product of any sort, though if it ever does, it would be a direct competitor to Android 3.x Honeycomb, which is also optimized for larger-screen devices.

The video shows Chromium with larger buttons to easily tap, along with a touch keyboard and other enhancements designed with using fingers in mind.

So, should Google continue on this path of developing and shipping two mainstream operating systems, or should they perhaps have the Chrome team create a stellar browser for the Android platform?
