iOS 5 Beta 5 Brings Signs of Nuance’s Speech-to-Text

9to5mac has discovered some of the first visual signs that Apple is going to be incorporating Nuance’s speech-to-text engine in iOS 5 beta 5, which was released just hours ago. This feature has yet to be officially announced (it wasn’t mentioned at WWDC back in June), so the screenshots of the interface are likely to change as Apple iterates, though this is the first absolute sign that iOS 5 will feature at least some speech-to-text support beyond what is already in place.

The speech-to-text implementation was among the many expected iOS 5 features, as details of Apple and Nuance meeting for discussion were leaked about a month before Steve Jobs took the stage at Moscone West for WWDC. It was also the most notable missing feature, though it’s likely that Apple didn’t announce it because a deal hadn’t yet been worked out with Nuance.
