Hulu Sued for Patent Infringement

Reuters reports today that Hulu has been sued by Rovi Corp for patent infringement on electronic program guides. The streaming company claims that Hulu’s infringement of their patent ”presents significant and ongoing damages to Rovi’s business.” They now wish to seek compensation for the lost license revenue and treble damages from Hulu, but they haven’t directly responded to the issue yet.

Reuters also notes that Hulu, owned by Walt Disney Co and News Corp, was recently put up for sale and has dozens of potential buyers including Google and Microsoft – Apple was even rumored to be a potential buyer.
