According to the Korea Times, Apple is currently quality testing a 2048 by 1536 display for use in the next generation iPad. There have been rumors of a Retina display iPad for some time now, but it is believed that such a dense display would be difficult to manufacture, and overkill for a 9.7 inch screen. Since Apple is attempting to lessen their dependence on Samsung, LG will continue to work with Apple to provide the display.
Apple’s upcoming iPad 3 will feature an improved display to support quad extended graphics (QXGA), a display resolution of 2048×1536 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio to provide full high definition (HD) viewing experience. The imminent deals would assure that Samsung and LG continue to be the biggest providers of flat screens to Apple for the foreseeable future.
