Amazon and AT&T have teamed up to sell the Kindle 3G with Special Offers for just $139—the same price as the standard WiFi model. The ad-supported 3G model was previously $164, and the full version is still available for $189. As with all data-enabled Kindles, connectivity is free of charge, though you won’t be able to do any serious browsing on the low powered device.
Amazon is also rumored to be releasing their own line of Android devices sometime soon, so it will be interesting to see how they position the Kindle price-wise against more expensive tablets. If Amazon is able to drop the WiFi version down to $99, it may be hard for potential iPad buyers to resist.
