Sources for This is My Next claim that Apple is readying an iPad “HD” to be released with the iPhone 5 this Fall. The device reportedly has a 2048 x 1536 display—double that of the current iPad—and is designed for “professionals”, specifically photo and video production. It’s possible that Apple will release iPad versions of Aperture and Final Cut, a move which wouldn’t be too surprising after they simplified their pro video editor. This is My Next notes that the device would not be an iPad 3, but a complementary device to the existing models. “Think MacBook and MacBook Pro“.
Rumors of an iPhone 4s have also been swirling around, but TiMN believes that these are simply iPhone 5 testing units in last-gen casings, and not an entirely new device. Apparently, Apple execs want to move on from the current iPhone 4 design to something new (possibly to shake off the Antenna/Glass-gate troubles).
Simply put, as the iPhone 5 components are built for a smaller and lighter device, they can be easily fit into a casing which for all intents and purposes looks identical to an iPhone 4… and that’s exactly what Apple has been doing. Our sources tell us that the company has been testing the new components in old iPhone cases, for obvious reasons.
