Microsoft has updated the official Bing iPad app with a clever new method for searching. Instead of tapping, selecting, copying, pasting, etc., just to search for a new word or phrase, users can now just lasso the text with their finger. It’s unknown if Redmond will introduce this method of searching to other applications—or integrate it completely into Windows Phone—but it’s a surprise that it took mobile developers this long to come up with a faster way of selecting text. If used system wide, it’s possible that users could accidentally select text while attempting to preform a different gesture or navigating a webpage, but for a simple results page, it should work quite well.
This release also includes: an improved movie experience that now lets you view multiple showtime days and theaters, the ability to swipe through the last six Bing homepage images, and hundreds of quality and performance improvements based on what we heard from you.
