Netflix Expanding to Latin America

Netflix’s VP of Marketing, Jessie Becker, has announced today that the video rental company plans to expand its Instant Streaming service to 43 Latin American and Caribbean countries. Specific dates have not been set, but this is a great second step to bringing the excellent service to the rest of the world. Users will now be able to access the website in Spanish, Portuguese or English, and streaming will work across the usual slew of capable devices, including the Apple TV, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4g, iPad, and some Android devices. Netflix offers a streaming-only plan for just $7.99 USD, and we expect similar plans for Latin America. If you’re interested, head on over to and add your email to the wait list.

Netflix members in the U.S. and Canada have really taken to watching instantly and we feel great about being able to offer the same combination of convenience, choice and value to people in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Members in the region will be able to access in Spanish, Portuguese or English, depending on their preference, and will be able to enjoy entertainment on their TVs via a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile devices.
