The Dev-Team has released the tethered jailbreak for iOS 5 that they showed off earlier this week. At the moment, redsn0w is recommended only for beta testers who need to get their tweaks ready for September’s official launch. Most of the tweaks and apps available in Cydia will be buggy (or flat out not work) in iOS 5, so it’s not recommended for end-users.
There is no ETA on an untethered jailbreak, but the Dev-Team will likely keep any vulnerability they find under wraps until new hardware is released.
If you depend on an unlock, do not install iOS 5.
Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 works on the following devices:
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
- iPad 1
- iPhone4 (GSM)
- iPhone4 (CDMA)
