Mojang has announced that Minecraft’s initial mobile debut will be exclusive the the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play—an Android-based “PlayStation phone” which will be released this week. There is no official ETA on mobile Minecraft just yet, but the invitation hints at a major E3 announcement. The indie crew at Mojang studios are also hard at work on a version of the sandbox-builder for iOS and more generic Android devices.
“When playing on smartphones you will have a different screen size compared to PC, different hardware, different attention spans and thus the game needs to be customized to fit the mobile specifications.”
Like the PC version, the game will follow the “release early and update frequently” development model, so users will be able to download new features (and likely many bugfixes) regularly.
