Foxconn Not Expecting Delays Post-Explosion

According to sources for the China Times, Foxconn is not expecting delays for the the iPad 2 or future Apple devices. Immediately after the explosion, shipping estimates for the iPad 2 jumped to “1-2 weeks“, but the two are likely only superficially related. Foxconn is the primary parts manufacturer for Apple, but the company also produces components for many other products. On Friday, Apple issued a statement in response to the disaster, but did not mention any potential product delays. Both companies are looking into the cause, and we hope the proper precautions are taken to ensure an incident like this does not happen again.

Sources said the explosion at Foxconn Technology Groups Chengdu plant did not affect the assembly line of iPad. Foxconn assured major suppliers at an online meeting yesterday that under the principle of orders placed and goods delivered as usual, the production of iPad 2 would not be delayed and related iPhone devices and new iPad products would still be in mass production in the third quarter.
