Purported iPhone 5 Case Pulled from Online Trade Site

Back in Ye Olden Years of the iPod, Apple would issue cease-and-desist orders to any site that posted pictures that appeared to be real or accurate of an upcoming model. They stopped that practice – it generally only confirmed that photo’s legitimacy – and now let any and all photos and rumors fly straight. Well, now we have a case that cropped up in the last few days that might have been real. Except now, it’s gone.

The online trade site, Alibaba, actually has a fairly nice record regarding Apple products: they provided details about the iPad 2 being thinner and having cameras that proved to be correct. Those, too, were removed from the site (reportedly at the request of Apple’s legal team). While it hasn’t been confirmed that Apple had a hand in this particular instance, it wouldn’t be surprising.
