Mac OS X “Lion” Developer Preview 3, Beta Build of Mac OS X 10.6.8 Released

It’s a software Friday, as Apple has just released two major test versions of upcoming software: Mac OS X 10.7 “Lion” Developer Preview 3, and OS X 10.6.8. The latter is a fairly straightforward update to Apple’s Snow Leopard operating system, which should bring lots of… bug fixes, and performance enhancements.

The former, though, is quite a bit more interesting: the Developer Preview 3 update brings along an updated login screen (which is, truth be told, pretty dang slick); Reading List, which you can think of as Instapaper-light; and new wallpapers! It’s a pretty small update in terms of features that are currently known, but there are sure to be countless bug fixes, enhancements, and tweaks to go along with it. All things considered, it’s a nice stop on the march to the release of OS X “Lion,” which looks to be happening in the next few months.
