M.I.C. Gadget has gotten their paws on what appears to be a prototype of the next iPhone (the name is disputed, though the rumor mill has it pinned down between iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S). The only hardware feature that is visible in these photos is that the device has a larger screen than an iPhone 4, and is also packing the new proximity sensor. The screen appears to be slightly longer and slightly wider than the iPhone 4′s screen (iPhone 4 is on the left, and the supposed prototype device is on the right).
Comparing these two devices’ screens, it appears to have the same difference that my iPhone 4 (3.5 inch screen) and my DROID Incredible (3.7 inch screen) share. 9to5mac also argues that the fact that the prototype device has Apple’s newly implemented proximity sensor adds credence to the image’s authenticity.
