Many companies that design accessories for Apple products have announced their current or upcoming availability of accessories for the iPad 2. Shortly after the commencement of the iPad 2 keynote, Scosche announced that their iPad 2 product lineup will be available later this month. Booq followed up by unveiling the Booqtab, which will ship in late March. Griffin Technology is also excited about the iPad 2, and will have cases, chargers and other accessories available online and in stores soon. Belkin has setup a product page for their iPad 2 products but all of these accessories are currently marked as coming soon. If you’re looking for a protective film solution for your iPad 2, the invisibleSHIELD, by ZAGG, is currently available for pre-order. The ZAGGmate for iPad 2 will ship no later than March 31st, 2011. Well-known accessory companies Speck and SwitchEasy have remained silent thus far, but I can guarantee that their own selection of iPad 2 accessories are on the horizon.
There is also a plethora of accessories designed for the original iPad that are also compatible with this newer counterpart. This includes nearly every accessory reviewed here on iFans. In general, this is almost any folio, such as FrappeDesign’s Executive Folio, as well as any stand, sleeve, or bag. The Jacket by STM Bags and Plaid Doctrine’s iPad Sleeve are both good considerations. Don’t forget about the LostDog™ Pouch by Bluetrek or Sena’s Leather Keyboard Folio. Screen protectors are also equally as compatible, as the iPad 2 has retained both its 9.7″ screen and front bezel dimensions. Capacitive styli, like Logiix’s Stylus Pro, are also equally as functional. Form-fitting cases, like the Silicone Wrapz by iFrogz, cannot be used because of the addition of a front and back camera and changes to the overall curvature and thickness of the iPad.
Who needs a Smart Cover anyways?
