O2 loses UK iPhone exclusivity

After 2 years of being Apple’s exclusive seller, O2 have finally had to stand down, and now two more UK phone suppliers are planning to be competition. Orange and Vodafone have both said they’ll be seller the iPhone 3GS and 3G in the UK – Orange have hinted on Twitter that they’ll be selling before Christmas, whereas Vodafone have said “2010.”

Orange have also made plans to merge with another telecoms company in the UK, T-Mobile. If this happens, the Orange-T Mobile alliance will take the majority of the UK coverage – at nearly 40%. I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how iPhone sales pan out, now that there is new competition on the block!
