Are You Ready for Some Football? Apps for Gearing Up for the Super Bowl

It’s a done deal: the Green Bay Packers will be meeting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. The green and gold will face the black and gold February 6th at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Eager fans may be interested in some of the apps available to get psyched for the showdown.

  • Super Bowl XLV – Official App of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host CommitteeThis app is more about the stadium and North Texas football history, but it does have a handy countdown to the game. It’s free and runs on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running 4.0 or later.
  • Super Bowl XLVThe free official NFL app is for those fortunate souls who may actually be attending the game, or those who would like to attend virtually. It includes a 3D interactive map of not only the stadium but North Texas as well, with suggestions for places to eat and a list of events being held during the week leading up to kickoff. The app works on iOS devices running 3.0 or later, and has been tested for iOS 4.0.
  • The Official Green Bay Packers App includes videos, team news, injury list, stats and soundboard as well as other features. Cheeseheads wanting to relive their defeat of the Chicago Bears may enjoy watching the post-game interview of unlikely interceptor B.J. Raji, or keep on an eye on the injury list. The free app requires iOS 3.2 or later on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
  • The Steelers Gameday PLUS app is the only official Steelers app in the App Store. It provides real-time scores, stats, news and videos, but no virtual Terrible Towel. It costs $1.99 and runs on the iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad running iOS 4.0 or later.

Finally, fans have been flooding the Cydia store with themes and wallpapers to show the love for their favorite team and the Big Game.

Check after the break for screenshots of the mentioned apps.
