AirPrint Activator Allows Printing to Shared… Printers!

AirPrint Activator is a recoded version of the “old” AirPrintHactivator OS X application (which Apple demanded to be taken down due to copyright nonsense). It allows users to print wirelessly to any shared printer on the local network. It is especially helpful if you don’t own one of the few supported printers. A jailbroken device is not required.

AirPrint Activator is a small application that will enable a Mac OSX 10.6.5 + iTunes 10.1 hidden feature to allow your shared printer to be visible on your iOS 4.2.1 devices. AirPrint allow you to print from new generation of Apple iPhones, iPad and iPod Touch to a printer shared over your personal WiFi network.

A quick test shows that it works great, though it requires a small amount of fiddling for the printer to show up. In the Print & Fax settings in System Preferences, the printer must be removed, re-added, and shared—which only takes a few seconds.

AirPrint currently works in iBooks, Mail, Photos, and Safari, as well as supported 3rd party apps. To print in iOS, tap the “share” icon and hit “print”.
