Apple had its share of presents under the tree this year, with a surge in app downloads and iOS Facebook users. According to sources, it plans to ride the wave of success in the coming year by increasing production of the iPhone.
Developers have enjoyed two to three times their normal downloads during the holiday season, with Facebook increasing its iOS users by over 4.5 million since Thanksgiving, up from 52.7+ million to 57.3+ million.
In light of its current success, Apple is planning to ship 20 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2011, a substantial increase over the 15.5 million shipped in the fourth quarter of 2010. Sources also state that Apple has ordered 5-6 million CDMA phones, ostensibly for Verizon.
