Band Attempts to Buy Fame

A UK songwriter, Lamar Johnson, has admitted to using stolen credit cards to purchase nearly £500,000 worth of his own music from iTunes and Amazon, in attempt to pocket a few thousand quid from the royalties. Johnson is already serving a 5 year bid for “grievous bodily harm”, and the additional count of fraud will likely tack on a considerable sentence.

The group of 10 allegedly purchased their own songs 6,000 times over the course of a year and a half, and most likely got caught when hundreds of iPod users suddenly noticed awful music being shuffled into their playlist. The remaining 9 members have not entered a plea, and will appear before a court next month.
